What hot & cold really tells you
A "hot" number is one that has been drawn more often than the others in the last thirty draws for a given game. A "cold" number is the opposite — it hasn't shown up as much. That's all it is: a running tally of the recent past. It doesn't mean the hot number is more likely to hit next, and it doesn't mean the cold one is "due" — every draw is independent of every other draw, and the machine has no memory.
So why do most South African players still glance at hot & cold before they bet? Two reasons. One, it's a simple, honest way to build a slip when you don't have a dream to translate. Two, some players enjoy playing the opposite strategy: they take the cold list on the belief that gaps eventually fill. Neither approach changes the odds — but both make picking six or seven numbers a lot faster than staring at a blank slip.
